How to fix when Windows search bar is not working?

One of the many reasons is Integration of Bing search into windows search. Microsoft is experimenting with it and that is why many windows users are experiencing this situation after their recent windows update. So disabling the Bing search from windows search could solve this problem easily. 

To do this, we have to make some changes in the windows registry. Take a backup of your windows registry and then proceed.

To open Windows registry, press and hold the Windows button from your keyboard and then press the button 'R'. This will bring up the 'Run Box'. Then in the search area type regedit and hit enter. Then you get the Registry Editor. 

Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search 

Now, single left click on 'Search' in the left side panel of registry editor. Then right click on empty space in right side panel, click on New and then click on DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name it BingSearchEnabled. 

Double click on the BingSearchEnabled and set the value to 0, click OK. Exit the registry editor window and restart your computer.

But if this is not the case:

Then make sure that your windows search service is running. Open 'Run Box' and type services.msc in the search area and hit enter. Find "Windows Search" from the list and double click on it. This will bring up Windows Search Properties. Service status should be running. If not, click on start to start the service. And startup type should be 'Automatic'. If not, set it to automatic. 

In the next step try to Rebuild the Windows Search Index. To do it open Control Panel and look for 'Indexing Options'. Click on it then go to the Advanced option. Click on Rebuild to delete and rebuild index. 

Wait for some time and let windows system delete and rebuild the index.
