How to clean your computer? Professional guide

How to clean your computer system?

Before going into the discussion, I like to make it clear that cleaning up your system, no matter it's a laptop or a desktop, is the job of an expert. No layman should do it without proper guidance. If you wish to clean up your system from outside only, you can go for it. But deep cleaning up system needs extra knowledge about all the connections, ports, cables, hardware components of a system. Wrong connection inside a system can damage motherboard components when you power it up.

Importance of Computer Cleaning

Cleaning computer not only boost performance of your system but also enhances the life span of your pc parts. A brand-new computer system does not need any cleaning at least for one or one and half years. But what after that? Remember, dust is the main enemy of your PC performance. So, to maintain its performance, we need to schedule computer cleaning twice a year or once a year.

How to physically clean your computer?

Before you start cleaning your computer 1. First turn off your PC 2. Unplug the power cable 3. Disconnect all other cables (if desktop) 4. Move your desktop or laptop to a place where there is enough light 5. Remove every component from the desktop case or from inside the laptop.

Right way to do physical cleanup of a PC.

First turn of your PC and unplug power cable from it. When done, remove all other cables attached to your system. Move everything to a place where there is enough light. Before going into deep, you have to clean up from the outside. To do it you can use a soft cotton cloth. The only liquid I prefer to clean up computer is Isopropyl alcohol (90% or more).

Put some liquid on the cotton cloth and start off by cleaning the display. Never put heavy pressure on screen or display. Gently rub the display with the cotton cloth until it looks glossy. Again, put some isopropyl alcohol on the cotton cloth and start cleaning the other outer areas and cables. When you think it is done, now go to the inside are.

Always use a quality screwdriver set when opening a PC case or a laptop. Do not hurry, remove all the screws one by one and put them in a right place and in an organized manner. Remember, the number of screws in a laptop is much bigger than the number of screws in desktop. So, in both cases you have put every screw in organized manner. This will help you when you are reassembling everything.

Removing dust from a computer

After opening the PC case or the laptop, the first thing you should do is, remove dust as much as possible with the help of a Canned air. You can use hair dryer too if canned air not available. When done, safely remove every connection inside a laptop or a desktop. Then one by one remove parts those are attached to the PCB such as RAM, CPU, CPU FAN, GPU, HDD or SSD.

Cleaning Inside Parts

As I told, the only liquid I prefer to use is Isopropyl Alcohol to physically clean up a laptop or a desktop. To clean up the motherboard you can use a toothbrush. Put some liquid on it and start cleaning it up by rubbing the motherboard surface with the brush gently. In this way you can clean some other parts like RAM, GPU etc.

Use a soft cloth and put some liquid on it then clean the HDD or the SSD. You can disassemble the CPU fan and clean it up.

When everything is done now you have to clean the inner area of a pc case or laptop. To do so you can use a soft cloth too.

Leave everything for a while to dry up the liquid if there's any. Now reassemble all the parts in the right way.
